ME8012: Mathematical Methods for Mechanical Engineering

Analytical and numerical methods for deriving and solving differential equations relevant to applications in Mechanical Engineering. Matrices and linear systems of equations, eigenvalues. First and second-order linear and nonlinear ODEs, systems of ODEs, critical points, phase plane, limit cycles. Fourier series and orthogonal polynomials. Vector calculus, solution of fundamental partial differential equations using separation of variables. Application of available computational tools for solving ODEs and PDEs.
